Day 1: Brenna passed out at the pub our first night. (She fell asleep at
the table, that is.) Then she woke up at midnight and told me she was done
with her nap.
Day 2: Still adjusting to the time change. Made it the the grocery store
and that's about it. That and we got the wireless password from
the landlord so we are connected again. Found a Whole Foods bag in a
drawer in our apt. Figured there must be one nearby. The only Whole Foods
in Europe is in walking distance! Aquired Rice Dream and sheep cheese.
(Sheep cheese is easy to find, but Rice Dream is not.)
Day 3: We walked down Portobello road to Fiona's school(still closed for the summer, but she liked that it looks like a castle, since it used to be a monastary). Had lunch at
Osteria Basilico, an Italian restaurant with amazing food and
ambiance. This one is worth taking visitors! Scoped out the 'hood on the
way back. Glad we have the double stroller, the girls would have never
survived that walk (or the SF airport for that matter)
Day 4: Slept until 11! Ryan stayed with the girls while I ran some errands
and aquired a blow dryer and such and then I took the kids to the park
while Ryan aquired a bank account. Cell phones are next on the list. And
HEPA purifiers for the rooms since our apt evidently has "the
damp". Not great for my asthma - but so far opening the windows has
helped, but I'm sure we won't be doing that in October. Glad we are only
in this apt for 3 months. Other than that the apt is reallly cool and on a
nice quiet street. Oh, that's not all - the 3rd room is evidently a separte lock off
unit to which we do not have access, despite it being on the floorplan and
in the photos. Working for some kind of refund on that. And, the bathrooms
are slightly larger than the ones on the airplane on the way over. Don't
drop anything, because it will probably end up in the toilet!
Found the Princess Diana park with the pirate ship. Kids had a ball there.
Went to Cafe Diana for dinner.
That's it for now. My time on the computer is limited, since we are
sharing Ryan's computer until mine gets here. And my interface on the
internet is kinda funky, so don't be surprised if I'm not as responsive as
usual.
